SynopsisBuilt in 1967, the Dubai Zoo is the oldest zoo in the Arabian Peninsula. It is the first Arabic zoo to house and breed the rare Chimpanzee and Gordons wildcat. It is a 1.5 hectare zoo located in Jumeirah. Among the species housed by the zoo, 248 are mammals. The endangered species present here include the Bengal tiger, Gorilla, Gordons wildcat and the Siberian tiger, among others.
A popular attraction, especially for families, the zoo includes animals that fit UAE`s environment and in other environments from all over the world. There are a variety of animal species including foxes, hyenas, pumas, lions, jaguars, chimpanzees, baboons, monkeys, deer, bears, porcupines, giraffes and barbary sheep. There are several exotic birds such as ostrich, golden eagle and parrots to name a few.
