December 2, the UAE`s National Day, marks the country`s formal nationalisation from the British Protectorate Treaties which ended on December 1, 1971. On this day in 1971, the formation of a separate union and a modern-day country (consisting of the seven emirates) took place, headed by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the federation`s first president. Grand celebrations are held across the country to mark the event.
Like every year, this year too, the Government has planned a number of fun-filled interesting activities throughout the week.
