SynopsisHere`s one more not-to-be missed film, screened at Sharjah Art Foundation!
The film is directed by the Oscar-nominated and critically acclaimed creator of `The Triplets of Belleville`, Sylvain Chomet. The film is based on an unproduced screenplay by French comedy genius and cinema legend Jacques Tati that talks about a beautiful relationship between a struggling magician and a young little girl. The script was actually written by Tati as a love letter from a father to his daughter.
Due to decreasing popularity, a magician is forced to perform at fringe theatres, garden parties and in bars and cafes. One fine day, while performing in a village pub, he meets Alice, an innocent young girl. Watching his performance, Alice is awestruck by his show and believes his tricks are real magic.
Fascinated by The Illusionist, Alice follows him to Edinburgh. Though they don`t speak the same language, the two lonely strangers quickly bond through small kindnesses and they quickly fall into a father - daughter relationship.
His only aim in life is to keep Alice happy and fulfill her dreams. He wishes not to disappoint her, that magic does not exist! The Illusionist now works harder to fetch gifts for her young princess. Life goes on, The Illusionist grows older, while Alice grows up and falls in love with a young man and moves on in life. Now The Illusionist does not have to pretend that magic is for real!
Let your kids decide if MAGIC exists or not....
