After her successful production debut NH10, Anushka Sharma returns with her second venture Phillauri. NH10 was praised for its bold subject that revolved around the social conditions of women in North India. This time, the actor-producer is back with yet another not-so-Bollywood story, where she plays the role of Shashi – a ghost. Directed by Anshai Lal, the film stars Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh and Mehreen Pirzada.
The filmmakers just launched their first trailer and it looks fantastic. It's funny and is ought to make you fall in love with its characters, who have justified their role very well. The trailer starts with the actor Suraj Sharma, who is declared a maanglik and is advised to get married to a tree (a tradition in India to ward off evil). His life turns upside down, when a ghost (Anushka Sharma) who is stuck in the tree starts to haunt him and tells him that he is married to her. Anushka Sharma looks cute in the role of a friendly ghost, which will remind you of Casper and Bhoothnath. She follows Suraj everywhere, claiming to be his wife.
The second part of the trailer featuring Diljit Dosanjh looks much like a folklore. The film's plot goes into flashback where we get to see a love story between Anushka and Diljit. Set in the Sepia tone, it gives us slight glimpses of Love Aajkal. Diljit plays the role of a singer, who has the power to change the world with his soulful voice. He embarks on a journey to make a name for himself and promises to return. However, tragedy strikes soon after he leaves.
The film is beautifully set in two worlds, which is merged by one spirit. By the look of the trailer, the film has all the elements of being a complete entertainer. Phillauri is all set to hit the big screens on 24th March, 2017.
